Abstract:

• Over view: The new Mitsubishi electric meter need a software to read & write electric consumption data.
• Approach: The software on PC must communicate with meter's microcontroler. The raw data then, must be translate in to human readable data. The software also can be use to calibrate the meter as well.
• Development: I design the software using UML Modeling tools and simple flow-chart. Below is sample of Sing in process design.

2. Process S100: send sign on request and start timer out timer.
3. Process S110: Get byte from comm port.
4. Process S120: Collect in coming byte until line feed found.
5. Process S130: Send request for comm speed change.
6. Process S140: Compile password request command for meter.
7. Process S150: Check meter’s password request command end byte.
8. Process S160: Check BCC for meter’s password request command
9. Process S161: Found bad BCC.
10. Process S170: Check meter’s response of password submission.
11. Process S121: Filler out garbage from input buffer.
12. Process S151: Filler out garbage during password request.
13. Process S200: Send sign on request.
14. Process S210: Get byte from comm port.
15. Process S220: Collect in coming byte.
16. Process S230: Send comm speed change request.
17. Process S300: MFG port sign on.

A flow-chart excerpted from design document which I written before coding. The software is written in VB.NET and OOP.
